Description: Long known as a Mecca for surfers, Windansea is also a place of great natural beauty. Covered with golden sand in the summer, the beach takes on a more rugged charm when the sand is temporarily stripped away by changing surf, tides and currents. The palm-thatched hut near the center of the image is a Historical Landmark, in existence since 1947, known locally as the Shack. A few years ago the Shack was moved a few feet from its original location to provide some protection from the surf. One post still remains to mark the former site, as seen in the image. A touch of watercolor softens the rocky shore.
