Description: The early morning sun warms the shore as waves surge over the rocks near the Windansea Shack at high tide. The Windansea Shack, a Designated Historical Landmark, was built in 1947 by surfers returning from the war in the Pacific. Wikipedia calls it the "oldest continuously used shelter of its kind on West Coast" and through the 1950s you might find a local surfer shaping or glassing a surfboard in its shade on a hot day. A few years ago the Shack was moved a few feet from its original location to provide some protection from the surf. One post still remains to mark the former site. A mix of soft focus and defined lighting enhances the emotive quality of this iconic spot.
