Description: High tide, big surf and the rising sun produced an interplay of light and shadow, water and stone, movement and immobility in this seascape. In summer this La Jolla beach is a long, gentle curve of golden sand; in winter, as seen here, its charm is the raw power of the sea. A combination of techniques was used to emphasize the contrast between the dawn mist in the background and the rugged shore and surging waves closer to the viewer.
